5* Luxury for EUR53.36?????

We are just back from a lovely night away in Dromoland Castle..... for once the golf came up trumps and for someone who (fondly!? not always) thinks of golf in the same breath as 'golf orphan' and 'golf widow' I was finally rewarded for my patience??!! when this year the Dromoland Golf club included in their green fees membership a night's B&B for all its members in the luxurious 5* hotel. We did stay here a few years ago and it truly is a lovely experience....

No... there were no kids with us.. these photos were taken one Sunday afternoon as we often drive here to 'feed the ducks' or just go for a walk....

Our night away was made possible once again by Marie, my wonderful jobsharing partner... She came to our house yesterday afternoon and stayed overnight, got the kids up and organised and delivered to their various schools and childminders this morning before driving to our school and teaching 'my kids' for the day... Ah! Jobsharing ~ Is there anything better? It really is the best of both worlds!! Thanks Marie....

Marie & Alex strolling in Dromoland a few months or so ago!

This photo was taken almost two years ago the first time we brought Alex to 'meet the ducks'!! He was only 3 months home from Kazakhstan and was mesmerized by the ducks and not one bit fazed by them all crowding in around him.. The girls kept throwing bread at his feet so that the ducks would all swarm round him and they were hoping for a reaction from him. ... I had forgotten how blond he was then... Alas, his hair is quite dark now....

Anyway back to last night... we went to Dromoland with Liam & Ruth, friends of ours and had a lovely time.. Part of the joy of staying there was the short distance we had to travel. Dromoland is only 10 minutes from our home so we did not have the hassle of driving a long distance... Pity we did not get there a little earlier in the day though to savour the whole experience.. .. was going to say 'get our money's worth but guess that does not apply.....
Our meal last night was one of the nicest I have ever had....Despite our protests Liam & Ruth insited on 'picking up the tab' for the meal & wine. Liam had helped us big time when we were moving house last Christmas twelve months and we had given him a voucher for Dromoland as a thanks..... This is why they had insisted over the past few months that we have a night away there..... I was telling Liam that it just ended up that he had to pay for the privilege of helping us to move house!!!!

So, if you look at the bill below you will see what we had to pay for our night of luxury!!! Did anyone ever get away that light????
