Another school year has ended for us all... how quickly it passed and reminds me of how the title of this blog..'Life ... & So it continues'... is so apt....When we arrived back from holiday both Elena and Alex still had three school days before breaking-up for summer... It was great because it allowed the rest of us to catch up on unpacking, washing clothes etc uninterrupted....
Elena has had a good year this year and got on well with her teacher and the learning-support teacher to whom she went to in a small group for some extra-reading time....She decided to bring in a small gift for each of them and also to give them a card... In our house we prefer to give home-made cards.. probably because I personally prefer receiving a home-made card from my own pupils... and indeed my own kids..The effort that goes into making them makes them all the more special than a shop-bought one...
Here is Elena's efforts for her two teachers... Monica and Deirdre....These were two photo frames that she made in the 'Kids Club' on holiday and we printed out two photos of her.... am sure they will have no trouble remembering her without the photos either!!!!!
Not to be outdone Alex also made some cards... in his case 3 because he has had three teachers in his pre-school group...Due to time-constraints his were pretty simple but again so much nicer than if we had simply bought a Thank-You card or three!! And he signed them himself..
The many faces of Alex!
4 smiling faces... all ready for holidays... Áibhín and Niall, two of our next-door neighbours called in on their way to school.. they go to a different school than Elena and Alex... Áibhín is exactly one year older than Alex and two years younger than Elena....but is almost as tall as her....
Last Day of School 2010
The above picture shows them heading off on the last morning and the one below shows them heading off for their first day.. end of August 2009.... seems like only a few months ago... How fast time passes..
In two short months Elena will be heading in to Second Class and Alex will be starting a new journey as he enters the first rung of Primary School....
Darrelle heads into her Junior Cert year and I will be back working full-time for the first time in 3 years.. am not freaking out about it ..yet... but it will be very busy ... think I will be like the hamster on the wheel.. shouting 'Let me off' but anyway will give it a shot ... and am sure Declan will be begging me to apply for job-sharing the following year....His golf handicap is just going to change... for the worse... but his culinary skills will continue to grow!!!!
But let's not think of all that now... It's Summer... and once again the July/August monsoon season is here!!!

Delightful anecdotes. May they have a great year ahead of them, and the parents and Darelle too. A.
