Once upon a time.... there was a little girl who got a present of a bird cafe for her birthday..... Of course she wanted to make it straightaway but....she who likes to call ALL the shots decided that another time would be the RIGHT time.....
The RIGHT time finally came and the little girl got to work and stayed very busy for quite a long time.... The little girl is passionate about 'making', 'cutting', 'sticking' so was very happy to be told 'Today is the RIGHT time'
After some time the little girl was joined by the small boy who decided that he could be of some help ... The small boy also got to work and was soon very busy.....
More time went by and the little girl and small boy were joined by the bigger girl who decided that helping might be fun and of course it would definitely be a lot more fun than.... folding clothes or... emptying the dishwasher!!!
As sometimes happens the little girl got sidetracked and decided that it would be fun to do two projects in the one go..... Project #2~handprints!!
The little girl was not aware that the paint used for painting wood is different than the paint used for painting on paper...The little girl was very upset to think that she might have black hands for ever and ever...
After a lot of scrubbing things were only marginally better for the little girl who was still worried....
Much scrubbing later things looked brighter for the little girl who was happy to have hands that were only marginally black and mostly back to normal....
Many days later the little girl and small boy decided to go back to project #1 and asked the clever daddy to help with the tricky bits.....like putting the roof on....
The Bird Cafe was beginning to look good..
The clever daddy did not make tooo many mistakes!!!!
Finally the Bird Cafe was finished and the little girl with the now-white hands was very happy....
The clever daddy hung up the bird cafe outside and made sure that it was open for business to all the waiting neighbourhood birds.....
The little girl liked to watch the small birds (like the blue-tit)come to visit the Bird Cafe...
Othertimes she watched the robin visit.....
The small boy went one step further and was able to spot all of these birds when they came to the garden....

The little girl was very happy and thought it a lovely birthday present... until....
Chapter 2 ... the little girl's Mommy puts out too much food for the birds and the heavy food pulls the floor of the bird cafe away from the rest of the bird cafe......
.... the little girl's Mommy decides to just take the photos and
write the stories......

Such an enjoyable 'original' story(book)! A few more of those and you'd be in the money!!!!!. Seriously, protect the Copyright to this and all the blog. It's a lot more significant than you think.The illustrations in that last episode are very good. Well done Daddy too. A great family project. I'm looking forward to the next issue.!!!

Hilarious - OMG I felt like I was following along to a Jackanory story (remember that programme from when we were kids.......I used to LOVE it!!) I love Elena's face - OMG she looked heartbroken - but then superhero mam and dad came to the rescue.
The birdcafe (not even a birdhouse anymore - we have moved up in the world!!) is only gorgeous - good work you guys & good work mammy on the narrating of the story!

Great collaboration also-the ideal modus''''''''''''; this could be of tremendous curricular interest in the "primary"sphere of teaching/learning fun interest-based, collaboration,goal-orientated, work/task satisfaction and practical outcome like the home gardening departure.
